Roland Cabezas, is the son of Spanish and German parents. He lifes in Hamburg, Germany and Málaga, Spain. He is working as a professional musician throughout Europe since 1988.

In 1994 he graduated in guitar at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California with vocational honors.

He has performed and recorded with many well known bands and artists such as:

Orange Blue, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Al Bano, Vicky Leandros, No Angels (MTV unplugged), David Knopfler of Dire Straits, Laura Pausini, GRP recording artist Nils Gessinger feat. Robben Ford, Dave Weckl & Vinnie Colaiuta, NDR-Bigband as part of the rhythm section together with latin jazz greats like Oscar Stagnaro, Mark Walker and Joe Gallardo, Trilok Gurtu…

Beside being a bussy touring guitarist and singer, Roland has recorded guitars and basses on the first two albums of the german chart topping band Orange Blue. He was also featured guest singer and co-writer on their 2nd hit single – Can Somebody Tell Me, which was used for the european version of Walt Disney’s animation movie – Dinosaur. In 2004 the band toured throughout Germany and the Netherlands as support act of R&B legend Lionel Richie.

Since 2000 he is frequently working on his reputation as a songwriter. So, he took advantage of being once more a co-writer for Orange Blue for their album – In Love With A Dream, which ended up being a platinum seller.

Several releases for the westlondon-based NuJazz labels Papa Records and Defected Records are featuring his outstanding funkguitar riffs, produced by the talented keyboarder & producer Simon Grey who was a former tour member of Incognito and later became a co-founder and band member of the Hamburg based band phase2corporation alongside with Roland Cabezas, Simon Gattringer on drums and Arnd Geise on bass.

2006 he joined the touring band of Indian drum & percussion virtuoso and world music great Trilok Gurtu, who formerly was a member of world-fusion pioneers Oregon, where he played along with guitar legend John McLaughlin and many others. Extensive touring through Europe in 2008 and 2009 gave him the oportunity to play  with other top notch guest musicians like Jan Garbarek, Oumou Sangare and Juan Carmona. The jazz/soul quartet JAZUL, which he founded together with his longtime friends and talented musicians Ingolf Burkhardt, Achim Rafain and „Dezzie“ Paulicke put out their first album in 2007: WHAT…? released by rent-a-dog in 2007, they’ve toured successfully throughout Germany in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In December 2009 he had the pleasure to play a Warner Bros showcase for multiple Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton, where he accompanied her on acoustic guitar, teaming up with renowned piano player & M.D. Rob Lewis.

Shows in 2010 had Roland performing with Trilok Gurtu, Jan Garbarek, Shankar Mahadevan, NDR-Bigband feat. Trilok Gurtu, Simon Phillips & Michel Alibo, Eumir Deodato and others …
